Day 5: The Reclaimed Gate
Day 5: The Gate Part 2. Using the wood from the roof of the outhouse we demolished, we made a gate. A few days earlier we demolished an outhouse which will be our new kitchen.
We kept the wood from the roof, so we could re-use it. Laz took it down it down from the roof and I took the nails out. We re-purposed the wood so not to waste anything and now it is a makeshift, temporary gate whilst we are renovating our house. Are you impressed we managed to make a design out of the odd ends of wood?!

Day 4: The Wall Part 2 😂
Day 4: It's not as easy as it sounds to demolish a mud and straw wall!
This outhouse building will be our kitchen. It will be extended out by one meter and will have a sliding door leading onto a sun-drenched outdoor seated area. I can not wait to sit there sipping mojitos in the summer sun right where those bricks are. Do you think we can do it before this summer?

We are all Mothers
As my Mum reminds me, it’s a thankless job (LOL Ma!), there is no big reward at the end, there are just moments. But you have to be present to notice them, you can’t wait for things to be calm and have that big house on the hill. Because that's all we have in the end: a montage of fleeting moments.

Day 3: The Wall
Demolishing a mud and straw wall is harder than it looks! This outhouse building will be our future kitchen. It looks pretty unimpressive now but soon it will be extended out by one meter and will have a sliding door leading onto a sun-drenched outdoor seated area. -
🍕🍝 Too much pizza, pasta or Putin...
But I felt nauseous as we left Lake Garda and drove east home to Nyíregyháza, 64km from the Ukrainian border. I planned a lovely blog post with uplifting stories of our trip to Italy. How I found James Joyce and Monet in Trieste, caught the last days of carnival in Venice and reunited with old friends at Lake Garda. That was until everything change on the return trip home. From Lake Garda to Nyíregyháza it’s just over 1,000km so we stopped off in Slovenia for a night for the sake of our 3 year old (and our ears).
